Dakota Valley/Basin Electric Power Cooperative Scholarship
Dakota Valley Electric Cooperative offers a $1,000 scholarship to a dependent of a member-consumer of Dakota Valley Electric Cooperative for the 2007-2008 school year.
Each of the 128 rural electric cooperatives that make up Basin Electric, including Dakota Valley Electric Cooperative, receives $1000 from Basin Electric to award a scholarship to a dependent of a rural electric cooperative member who will enroll as a freshman in college each fall.
The scholarship program, which is in its 17th year, recognizes and encourages the academic achievements of students in the region. It also serves as an investment in the economic future of rural areas.
Applicants for the scholarship must be high school seniors enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school.
Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on a combination of SAT/ACT scores and overall grade-point average, work experience, participation in school and community activities, a personal statement of career goals, a written recommendation by a third party and an essay, "How education has or will benefit my community."
