Dakota Valley Electric Cooperative has one of the highest reliability rates in the electric utility industry. Yet, there are many reasons why even the best utilities experience outages. Storms producing high winds, lightning, icy conditions, fallen trees on overhead lines and vehicle accidents are the most common causes of outages.
If you experience a power outage, first follow two steps:
- Check your fuses or breakers. Reset any that have tripped off.
- Check with your neighbors to see if they have power.
